Debate currently has no limitations on Start Date, First Contest Date, or Maximum Number of Contests. We encourage schools to create a schedule that works best for coaches and students.
Debate students are not bound by Bylaw 111 (Transfer and Residence)
Administrators need to verify student eligibility, but currently do not need to fill out the Eligibility Verification Form.
All Sub-Section, Section and State Contests require MSHSL registered judges. For more information on being a judge, click here.
Current Judging Certification Clinics will be posted on this page under NEWS.
Having qualified judges is important to the integrity of the contests. It is getting harder and harder to get out of school to judge contests and Spring is such a busy time that sometimes contests need to be scheduled on weekdays. If it helps, we have a letter of support you could give your administration to participate in weekday contests.
Current Rules and Policies are posted accessible from this page. See Rules and Policies link below.
If coaches have any questions regarding rules, selection placement, or other issues they are encouraged to contact Amy Doherty as early as possible.
