State Tournament Summary
By MSHSL  Staff
This was a game of two halves. The teams played it close for the entire game, however, Minneapolis Washburn’s shooting percentage dropped off significantly in the second half to allow Park Center to maintain its halftime lead and never relinquish it. The Miller’s of Minneapolis Washburn shot nearly 46 percent from the field in the first half while the Pirates of Park Center shot 35 percent but still took a one-point cushion to the locker room at the half. The lead actually changed five times and the score was tied four times in the first half. The Millers were never able to regain the lead or even tie the game in the second half when their shooting efficiency dropped to 31 percent. Senior Cayla McMorris had a team- and game-high 26 points for the Pirates. Ninth-grader Ann Simonet added 14 points and ninth-grader Mikayla Hayes put in 13 points and pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds. The Pirates, in their first state tournament appearance, will play either Fergus Falls or Marshall for the title on Saturday. The Millers, who now move on to the third-place game on Saturday, were led by senior Chase Coley who had 25 points and a game-high 21 rebounds.
