State Tournament Summary

MINNEAPOLIS -- Jumping out to an 18-2 lead and never looking back, No. 2-seed Eastview cruised to a 62-28 win over Andover in a Minnesota State Girls’ Basketball Tournament Class AAAA quarterfinal game on Thursday afternoon at Target Center.

Andover’s (19-11) lone lead came on the opening basket of the game. After that, Eastview (29-1) scored 18 unanswered points, taking an 18-2 lead at the 11:07 mark of the first half. The Lightning led 29-8 at halftime and pulled away to lead by as many as 34 points in the second half.

Eastview’s Rachel Ranke connected on 9-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, to lead all players with 23 points. She added seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Madison Guebert scored 13 points, Erika Schlosser scored eight points, and Samantha Trammel scored seven points with a game-high 11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Eighteen players saw game action for the Lightning, with eight scoring.

For Andover, Jolene Daninger led the way with 12 points and three rebounds, while Arial Aarness had six points, three rebounds and a blocked shot.

Eastview connected on 53.5 percent (23-of-43) from the field, including 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from three-point range. Eastview outrebounded Andover by a 38-22 margin in the game. The Huskies shot just 20.9 percent (9-of-43) from the field in the game.

Eastview will face No. 3-seed St. Michael-Albertville in a Class AAAA semifinal game on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Williams Arena.
